Reds legends beaten in Madrid

A team of United legends were beaten 3-2 by their Real Madrid counterparts in the Corazon Classic Match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

The charity meeting, which benefited Real's Foundation academies in Africa, pitted famous names from the pasts of both clubs against one another, and the game began in entertaining fashion as Fernando Morientes put the hosts into the lead after seven minutes, only for Lee Sharpe to fire the Reds back on level terms within two minutes.

Luis Figo powered Real back ahead almost immediately, and only a superb save from Edwin van der Sar prevented Zinedine Zidane from extending the hosts' lead. Substitute stopper Raimond van der Gouw emulated his compatriot's heroics immediately after his second-half introduction, making a fine one-on-one save from Emilio Butragueno.

That preceded a pivotal period, as Teddy Sheringham's penalty was parried out by Pedro Contreras, who also blocked the striker's follow-up. Two minutes on, the hosts moved into a 3-1 lead as Fernando Redondo wound his way through a gaping hole in the United defence before prodding a finish past the exposed van der Gouw.

Sheringham did atone for his miss with 10 minutes remaining as the former England striker reached Andy Cole's measured through-ball and clipped a fine finish over Contreras. It wasn't enough, however, to halt Real from edging a hugely enjoyable spectacle.

United: Van der Sar (Van der Gouw 62), Martin (Thomas 77), Johnsen, Dublin, Irwin; Blomqvist (Robson 77), Yorke, Fortune, Sharpe (Blackmore 61); Cole, Sheringham.

Walk in Kanye's shoes - but not if your feet are a different shape: How rapper's Nike Air Yeezy II was tailored to his own foot

Kanye West has designed a range of Nike sneakers for people with similarly 'slim' feet to those of the musician himself.

The 34-year-old's second collaboration with the sporting brand, titled The Nike Air Yeezy II, is described as a 'shoe slimmer than the original by tailoring it to Kanye West's foot.'

The limited-edition new kicks, which go on sale in the U.S. on June 9, also feature a molded spiked rear that is said to be 'reptilian-inspired'.

The highly-anticipated product, which will no doubt attract lengthy queues of hard-core sneaker fans across the U.S. on the day of its release, will retail for $250.

The price will of course be much higher once the shoes are snapped up and resold by savvy shoppers at a later date.

The new design will be available in various colours, such as the black and 'solar red' version that the musician wore during his performance at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York last November.

The shoes were first spotted even earlier than that, however.

He unveiled the grey 'Platinum' version at last year's MTV Video Music Awards which were held in Los Angeles in August.

No matter the colour, the design features hand-skived anaconda-textured leather panels that have been stamped with the trademark Nike swoosh logo.

The design was inspired by the basketball shoes of the late Eighties, much the same as the original limited-edition Nike Air Yeezy, which was released and swiftly sold out in April of 2009.
But the newer version has been given several updates in addition to the 'slimmer' molding.

A large strap with 'scaled-down' spikes was developed for the new shoe 'to offer a greater sense of symmetry and lock down', according to Nikeinc.com.

Also, 'unnecessary' padding that featured in the original Yeezy make has been removed and its collar was lowered to allow more movement.

The description added that 'fit was essential to the design'.

A loop strap features hieroglyphics that read 'YZY' which is of course an abbreviation of Yeezy.

The shoe will be available in both the 'Platinum' colour, which features orange lining on the upper section and a green sole that glows in the dark, and a black version that features pink lining and the same glow-in-the-dark sole.

Several of the musician's friends have already been spotted wearing the new design.

Jay Z, who collaborated with him on last year's Watch The Throne album, was spotted wearing the 'Platinum' version during a press event in Philadelphia earlier this month.

LeBron James, a star NBA basketball player for the Miami Heat, wore the black version to a press conference on May 6.

It is not the first company to have collaborated with the musician on a pair of shoes.
Mr West released a limited-edition collaboration with luxury brand Louis Vuitton in 2009, which retailed for around $1,000 per pair.

It was a much cheaper product than the Giuseppe Zanotti collaboration he showed at Paris Fashion Week in 2011 as part of his Dw By Kanye collection.

They were spotted on sale in January of this year priced at a hefty $5,887 per pair.

The world’s smallest cowboy

His belt buckle is nearly as big as his face and his trusty steed is a stumpy-legged miniature pony, but the rodeo kid is causing a big stir in the gritty world of barrel racing.

Little Royce Gill, from Upper Horton in western New South Wales, Australia should be kicking up tantrums as he goes through the terrible twos but instead he is kicking up the dust on his six-year-old pony Maybelline.

It is perhaps no surprise the young cowboy has taken to the sport, which involves racing around barrels at high-speed and requires precise levels of horsemanship, as he is the seventh-generation rodeo rider in his family.

Standing in front of his beloved animal Royce, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the character Woody from the film Toy Story, is competed in his first competition against under 18s last week at the Beaudesert Rodeo and although he failed to win a place he has plenty of time to catch up with his much older compatriots.

Dad Ryan Gill said the racing was in his son's blood and he was happy to help him follow his passion.

'I have ridden horses since I was five,' said the champion rodeo rider, 'and his mother, Stacey Wilburn, also barrel races.'

'We breed 200 calves purely for bucking bulls and 300 horses for rodeos, so there's not much else around for Royce to play with.

'There are a lot of older kids, but Royce loves it and is pretty keen. I just sit him on and he wants to stay there.'

Mr Gill who lives on a 3000-acre property in the country said he would help his son progress on to bigger calves and ponies as he grew.

The pocket-sized rodeo rider has a busy schedule over the coming weeks.

He is due to compete against people more than seven times his age at barrel racing competitions in Charleville, Mount Isa, Chinchilla, Bundaberg, Maleny, Bowen and Cloncurry.
